Southern Area Officer 2011

 Kate_Acheson (WinCE)

Hi,

My name is Kate Acheson and for the coming year I am the Southern Area Officer of the Union of Students in Ireland (USI). It will be my duty for the year to assist and work directly with the colleges in the South region.

I’m from Clonmel, Co. Tipperary   started my Students’ Union career in IT Carlow as Students’ Union President in 2009 and I served two terms in this role. This role has allowed me to gain a great insight into what USI can offer and what expectations colleges should have from their USI Area Officers.

One of my roles as the area officer is to co-ordinate and promote USI and its campaigns across the region. This is achieved by working with the other elected USI officers to ensure that their mandated campaigns are rolled out successfully and constructively throughout the Southern region. The policy officers are limited in the amount of time they can spend travelling around to other colleges. This can leave them being unable to deliver their mandated campaigns in colleges. My role ensures that all colleges get as much help and guidance from the organisation as possible.

When not working on USI specific campaigns I will be available to assist colleges in any way they deem necessary.  Whether it comes to assisting class representative training days, co-ordinating college specific events, or researching information from other colleges, I’ll always be there to help as best I can.

At anytime please feel free to contact me for more information about my role or the organisation on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Take Care,

Kate
