An Oifigeach na Gaeilge - The Irish Language Officer
This officer is responsible for carrying out USI policy on the Irish language and culture, and also for encouraging the use of Irish within the organisation with the aim of developing a bilingual policy.
The Environmental Awareness Officer
The Environmental Officer is responsible, with the support of a full-time officer, for the implementation and development of the USI's environmental policy.
S/he creates awareness for both global and local environmental issues and develops, promotes and supports initiatives which help conserve and enhance the quality of our environment.
The Postgraduate Officer
The Postgraduate Officer is responsible for implementing and developing, in conjunction with the Education Officer, USI policy for postgraduate students and their studies.
He/she encourages more postgraduate students to take part in the USI, both nationally and locally and is an ex-officio member of the Education Working Group.
Part-Time Equality Campaign Officers
These include the Disability Rights Officer, International Students Officer, Gender Equality Officer and Mature Students Officer.
The responsibilities of these officers are:
· To build sustainable links with students within their remit;
· To attend Equality Working Group;
· To represent the views and needs of students within their remit to the Equality Officer & Equality Working Group;
· To implement and develop policy in their respective areas;
· To provide a report of work done to each meeting of Equality Working Group and to Equality Standing Conference.
· Quorum for a meeting of Equality Working Group shall be half plus one of the total membership of the working group.
