Eastern Area Officer 2011

Suzann

Hello there!

My name is Suzann Tutty and I'm the Eastern Area Officer for the Union of Students in Ireland (USI) 2011/12.

Prior to my role as Eastern Area Officer, I was the Bolton Street Class Rep Convenor in DIT for two years. The position I held in DIT Students Union (DITSU) is similar to the role of Eastern Area Officer. I was involved in electing Class Reps, assisting with campaigns and informing and motivating the students I represented. I plan to implement the experience and knowledge I gained from my time in DITSU in my new role at the USI.

As Eastern Area Officer 2011/12, I will be assisting the colleges in the East as best as I can, from helping with campaigns to putting up posters and anything else that they need from me. I will also be promoting USI and informing students of the work that the organisation does on behalf of its members, and of the campaigns that will be rolled out in the coming year.

This year I will be working on various issues such as the USI's "Strength through Unity" document, which will promote the work of the USI and the benefits of the organisation.I will also be working on the integration of the various cohorts that the USI represents. It is important that all our members are represented appropriately at a national level.

The use of social media and how best to utilise the various social media outlets will also be one of my concerns. I will also be working on other issues with Officer Board this year such as the First Fortnight, the Grants and Accommodation Evenings across the East and Lobbying the Oireachtas.

As its only the beginning of the year, I'm sure there will be other campaigns and issues that I will be tackling alongside USI Officer Board (the other elected USI Officers).

I think that's it for now, but if you ever need assistance or want to know about my role or the USI, drop me a mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I'll help you out as best I can!

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Suzann.
